Colin Edgar, editor of The Whitehaven News is to leave his post after 12 years. It is part of a major shake up which is helping to cut CN Groups annual editorial costs by £600,000.
The Times & Star editor will also be leaving his post at a similar time. Colin will be moving onto a new role within CN Groups new production hub wheras Steve Johnston, editor of the Times & Star will be taking voluntary redundancy.
Because of the departure of two editors plans have been unveiled for the Whitehaven News and Times & Star to be run by just one editorial team.
Deanne Shallcross, Deputy editor of the Times and Star will take over as West Cumbria Editor for Cumbria Newspapers and will oversee the editorial side of things for The Whitehaven News as well as The Times & Star and the West Cumbrian News and Star which will continue to be edited by group editorial director David Helliwell.
Deanne has been with the group for 8 years and will take up her new role in mid April.
20 jobs have so far gone at Cumbrian Newspapers as part of the restructure.
