A Cumbrian based travel agency has reopened their stores following teams working from home.
Tricia Rickerby and Leanne Miller who co-own Cumbria Travel said staff have been working hard throughout the lockdown to assist and support customers facing uncertainty and any travel queries they may have.
Since being established in early 2015 Cumbria Travel has grown year on year and say they are seeing a welcome return in regular custom following the peak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
When booking holidays, customers have been looking for more support from travel agencies due to the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. With an array of industry experience, Tricia, Leanne and their teams across the county are ready to help with customers new and existing.
Leanne co-director of the travel firm said: “We were delighted to be able to re-open all of the Cumbria Travel locations this week. After having most of our team homeworking since 23 March it was lovely to see them returning to their stores.
“For us, it was so important to be able to offer our customers a continuous service throughout all of this, as we were aware there were customers out there booked with other Travel companies who were struggling to speak to anyone.
“As local girls, running a locally owned company we understand the importance of community and continued to provide our customers with the best possible service from day one of lockdown.
Leanne continued: “We believe this is why we have seen a growth in sales for 2021 and even 2022 throughout this period and with an update on Foreign Office Advice due anytime we expect to see the same surge of last-minute sales for 2020.
“We have lots of customers eager to book and take advantage of some of the best prices we have seen in years, people have really got behind the #SupportLocal Campaign they want to shop local and keep their money in the local community which is such a positive for us and we honestly can't thank our customers enough for their continued support, it really does mean everything.”
The Cumbrian agency recently received news that they had been awarded a Prestigious Travel Industry Award by being named by the TTG (Travel Trade Gazette) in their Top 50 UK Travel Agents.
Tricia was extremely proud of the poignant award and said: “We were overwhelmed to be named runner up in the North West Category, this is a huge Travel Award with Agents from all over The UK competing to make the Top 50 list and a Team of industry experts acting as judges scoring us on service, appearance, community, marketing and much more.
“Further to this our Dunmail Park shop was named the Runner Up for the 2nd year running for North West England and we were the only Agent in Cumbria to make the Final with our Carlisle shop also reaching the Final 5 for The North West, to say we are proud is an understatement”.
During lockdown Cumbria Travel also learned that they are a finalist for the County Brides 2020 North West Wedding Awards in the Travel Agent category: “This is even more special as it's voted for by our customers who have experienced our services whether that be arranging their wedding, honeymoon or even hen and stag parties.
“We will find out on 9th September if we have won, so fingers crossed, but we are still just as delighted for the nomination”
With offices now open in Whitehaven, Dunmail Park – Workington and Carlisle the company have re-opened with precautions in place and limiting the number of people in each of the offices, for any travel guidance and advice visit their website www.cumbria-travel.com for more information and contact details.
