Gentlemen airlifted to hospital following RTC on the A66

A man has been airlifted to hospital after an RTC between a car and a lorry on one of the main roads leading into the central Lakes.


The police shut off the A66 after a RTC at Portinscale close to Keswick at around 11am today (1st June).


Fire crews from Cockermouth and Keswick were in attendance, cutting him free from a car using two sets of hydraulic cutting equipment.

The gentlemen was then in the care of the North West Ambulance Service who airlifted the man to a hospital


The busy main road remained closed for a few hours in both directions at the Crosthwaite Roundabout and the Portinscale Junction.
