VE day marks 75 years since the ending of WW2 and Gosforth have found safe ways to mark the poignant day.
Rachel Unsworth of Gosforth Bakery, Samantha Milliner also of Gosforth Bakery and a local resident and Dawn Pennington of Gosforth Taxis have placed together various safe activities to mark the occasion.
Residents shall be treated to a performance from local singer Miss Cindy Hoten through remote live broadcasting from her home in Workington with various wartime hits as well a local veteran will be marching through and a best-dressed house competition and the village will be following the national programme. Ex-soldier Mr Andrew Jackson of the Kings Own Royal Regiment will be marching right-through the picturesque village from 2 pm.
The village did have very grand plans to celebrate VE day, which have now been postponed to the 8th May next year.
