Tommy Robinson arrested in Barrow following incident last night

The former EDL leader Tommy Robinson has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a man he claims spat in his face.


Tommy was detained by Cumbria Police at a protest rally at Hollywood Retail Park in Barrow, shortly after half 8 on Thursday evening.


Footage shared across social media shows Tommy filming himself and then the police officers who arrive at an address in Barrow.

Cumbria Police received a call reporting an assault on a man at Hollywood Retail Park, shortly after 8.30 pm.

Officers responded and arrested four men shortly afterwards in the Douglas Street area of Barrow.

A man aged 43 from the West Midlands area, a man aged 47 from the North Wales area and a man aged 28 from the Bedfordshire area were arrested on suspicion of a public order offence, in addition to Tommy Robinson, aged 37.
